Date: June 12, 2010 StepHouse Recovery is an incredible place to find oneself and attain sobriety. If you’re having a problem and can’t do it on your own, you found the right place. I just got home today and miss the wonderful staff, beautiful grounds and perfect food. I was beat and tired of taking pills and my addiction beat me to a pulp. These people know the best way to help you when you are at your worse. Not only that they have all the tools, insight, that help you fight your addiction and find sobriety, you don’t have to do this alone. I ran myself dry and was in a bad spot of self-loathing, disgust and couldn’t stop the routine. It was tough and I thought the month was going to drag but I ended up staying an extra month and miss it already. Can’t wait to be back for meetings, thanx to Matt and George for helping me get a 2nd chance, I’ll reach someone else and give back to the program. -Forever grateful, Alyssa Date: August 15th, 2010 I entered StepHouse Recovery as sick and tired of being sick and tired as anyone could be. I had 14 years sobriety and relapsed for 11 months. Now I have my sobriety back andI thank God everyday that I went to StepHouse Recovery. I was one more drink away from death and entered a quiet, shy, emotional cripple and left vibrant, full of life and hopes for the future. I have been back for Sobriety week-ends many times and leave rejoiced and refreshed. I got my one year chip at The Newport Club along with two of my friends (fellow guest) and it was like getting an Oscar. I am excited that this year I will continue to attain my sobriety chips. We are all just one drink away from insanity or death. My friend is back at StepHouse Recovery which is a Godsend and he will recover again and he will have hope and dreams again. How many chances do we get? Only God knows and it is not my desire to test him. I am blessed to have each day begin anew with each hour of sobriety things are coming together. Thank you Matt and George for your continuing friendship. -Elaine I came into StepHouse Recovery a broken man, not sure if I wanted to live or die. After 28 days, with a sponsor in hand, my life changed. I love my life & what it holds for me now. My future is bright, but only if I stay connected - meetings, service, & my higher power. Thanks to all at StepHouse Recovery I owe you my life. - Your friend, Jason . Dear Matt, I don’t know how to begin to thank you and your colleagues at StepHouse Recovery for helping to return our son to us. Only you – and anyone reading this letter whose son or daughter is addicted can possibly understand the pain, the nightmares and sense of hopelessness all parents suffer watching their son or daughter slowly kill themselves. For six years, we tried everything in our power and spent more money than I ever earned trying to get our 20 year old son sober: five different drug rehabs in the belief that finally, this one would work; countless therapists; two interventions and finally a rapid detox program that was supposed to eradicate the craving for most drugs. Nothing worked. So these years were filled with brief moments of elation, thinking our son finally licked the problem only to go through the horrible realization that, once again, we were back to square one. Each time he replapsed, it only got worse: he stole, lied, was verbally abusive and totalled three cars. Even the therapists gave up on our son. But we didn’t. It took many drug rehabs, many attempts, many fact finding missions to finally find StepHouse Recovery, the right place for our son. Sadly, all the brochures for drug rehabs and sober living say all the right things – things parents want to hear and believe in. I can only hope most parents searching for help don’t have to go through the drug rehab journey I went through. Which is why I take great joy in writing this letter, and saying to any parent reading this, to take a look at StepHouse Recovery, talk to Matt or George, listen to them, pay a visit and seriously consider sending your precious cargo there. The physical setting is beautiful, calm, peaceful and conducive to recovery. And the staff knows what they are doing. They have a simple but profound understanding of the nature and effects of addiction. They know how to modify the dysfunctional behavior that is an integral part of all addicts. My son now has over 8 months of sobriety – something I never thought possible. It’s what I asked the people at StepHouse Recovery to give him: Just one year and he’d have a shot at living. They gave it to him. Jeremy S. |
